Zeitgeist Wow, this is kinda scary... Seems like NO ONE comes here anymore. :? Anyway, being a hardcore Pumpkin fan, I thought I would give my opinion of the new album Zeitgeist, if anyone even reads it...
I'll be honest with you, when I first heard about the Pumpkins getting back together, I wanted SD era Pumpkins back; I don't think I entirely got my wish. The album has the feel of Siamese Dream, being very energetic and very fun. The songs are all very artistic with the classic Pumpkins feel. I can find myself listening to the album over and over again, just to find new nuances I didn't pick up on before. I think when I first gave it a listen, a couple songs stuck out to me. I really enjoy Bleeding the Orchid, That's the Way (My Love Is), and Starz. I think That's the Way sounds very much like Zwan as well as Bring the Light sounds right out of Machina. But that is about where the similarities end. With the albums before the breakup, you could feel the natural transitions between each of them, but I feel Zeitgeist has broken out of that pattern and turned into something completely new.
The bottom line: I like the album. I enjoy Siamese Dream 20x more, but the Pumpkins are still the Pumpkins. Definitely a worth-while album. I am just so fucking excited the Pumpkins are back. And they are coming to Salt Lake City. I could die. Now if they would just play Spiteface...
