The resurrected Smashing Pumpkins will perform their first live shows since reforming in Germany in June. The Smashing Pumpkins website has announced two shows, June 2nd headlining Rock Am Ring and June 3rd headlining Rock Im Park. Tickets for the shows went on sales January 27th. The line-up for Rock Am Ring will also include Linkin Park, Muse, Billy Talent, Evanescence, Korn, Slayer, Dave Matthews Band, Wolfmother, Arctic Monkeys, My Chemical Romance, Kaiser Chiefs, The Kooks and Stone Sour. Frontman Billy Corgan announced recently that the new Pumpkins album is in the final stages. This is such good news. I vowed to myself that when the band reunites, I will do whatever it takes to see them live. This is a little too far out of my reach though. Ugh. They'll come to North America soon, I know they will!

I think that the festival usually records footage and audio of the shows so hopefully this will show up on youtube and on the trading circuits! EDIT: I wonder who else will be up on stage with Jimmy and Billy.....

Based on the precedent set, we will hopefully get a FM recording (possible incomplete, a la Exit Mellon Collie etc) and maybe even videos (like Zwan's Rock AM Ring performance). I sure hope so. And about the line up.. I hate the lack of information! The suspense is killing me.

To be honest, there have been instances where AUD sources are better than SBD. SBD is good in quality, but lacks in overall feel of a live show. Some AUD shows like the Arising! shows are amazing, the experience is there. With that being said, I just want a recording :P If I were really wishing, I'd want the Metro DVD to be released the same time as the new CD :P

^ Yes they did. That cover was a disgrace! They are now headlining Pinkpop as well!!! The Smashing Pumpkins will headline the last day of the Pinkpop Festival in Landgraaf, Netherlands on May 28, 2007. This is the earliest performance that has been announced thus far.
