The Pumpkin Queen? This isn't "new" I guess.. but does anyone know what's up with this?
Details on the new SP album!
Thanks to The Pumpkin Queen and Apolidia for this.........
The Future Embrace was sort of an experimental thing, where Billy could experiment outside of a band setting and explore some of his synth-pop indulgences. TPQ (The Pumpkin Queen) didn't know if he would explore this route again in the future, but it is not indicative at all of the new album.......
The new album is heavy and they have taken it down from 25-50 songs to around 12-14 or so. That doesn't mean, however, it is a single album.
TPQ did mention that there is one insanely long and heavy song with a massive drum build up. They are working 12 hours a day, 5-6 days a week.
One of the reasons it is taking so long is Billy's utter dedication to finding that perfect sound. He will listen back to takes, then spend four hours re-recording one particular part. She said she was amazed at the way he knows exactly how he wants it to sound...
The flag (that you can find posted on the bands website and MySpace page) is not the new album cover. Billy did design it, but it's meaning is ambiguous. They have an artist doing the cover. Banksy was considered but then rejected...
Thematically the album still deals with the usual Billy heart/break up songs but has a sort of revolutionary vibe throughout it. There is a dissatisfaction with the way things are in the USA, but it's not as blatant as say Green Days 'American Idiot' for example.....
This album may take a while to 'get' like Machina etc, it reveals itself over time.....
If TPQ was to compare songs from the Pumpkins back catalogue to ones that are on the new album she suggested one track reminded her of 'bodies' and another of 'zero.'
Also, there is apparently NO animosity between Billy and the other band members. Much of that is just press bullshit.
The Pumpkins are playing Reading (a summer music festival in England) at which point the album will be out. They will be touring Europe before the US.
They will keep the band alive as long as they feel they are still relevant. It is NOT a one album deal!http://www.myspace.com/seattlepumpkinites
Is this real or fan-shit?

I read this on netphoria
it was from one of the meetups
I think, I may be wrong

Yea, I'm curious about that too.
Maybe James is just like that, but if you watch interviews, I think he looks angry. Well, at least annoyed. I dno.. maybe it's just me.

Yeah it was from the either the first UK meetup or the LA meetup, I don't recall. Both the Pumpkin Queen attended. She has not attended any other meetup that has occurred of course.
It might be easy for their to be no animostiy if its just Billy and Jimmy ;).

I don't like the fact that the new songs remind someone of another song... but I guess TPQ was just talking about the style...
On the other hand, I like the sort of "revolutionnary vibe", this sounds really promising.
It's not a one album deal? That's the grea-*test*-('") news I've heard since I heard that the pumpkins were back together!

when they say no animosity i thought it was only billy and jimmy so thats not surprising at all
but lets be overly optomistic for a second and say that james is back
sure they had a falling out but its amazing how friends can be really pissed off with each other butthen when they see each othre again and talk they realise how much fun the other person is and forget all the shit
but its unlikly, musicians arent known for being onew to put their egos aside unless their is a lot of money involved

that's a really dogmatic statement you're making there...
you don't know james or billy in person, so you can't really predict anything.

i said musicians not 'billy and james'
and i can predict things, the question is with how much accuracy
but hey i predicted the audioslave split (much like many others did) and i know none of those guys personally...

you may be right, but I don't think that James' ego will stand in his way... He doesn't exactly have the biggest ego in music business, imo

who knows, time will tell
