Songs that Should Have Been Singles... Well, I'm sure everyone has different opinions on the single choices that were released of the respective albums. And I'm also sure some of you have other opinions as to which songs should have been singles.
For me, I think:
- Geek USA would have been an excellent single to follow up Cherub Rock with. Both have amazing guitar parts, and I love Geek USA.
- I think it would've been nice to have another single off of Adore, and I think Tear would have been the perfect choice. I absolutely love the song, so emotional, so deep, so amazing.
- Jellybelly should have been a single as well IMO. Originally, Billy said he wanted to make it the first single off of MCIS, but was talked out of it (you can hear the interview that he says this by going into the Members Downloads forum and downloading the Tree Studio's radio broadcast). I don't know why he never did, because this song is awesome.
- And although Machina 2 never did have any singles, Cash Car Star and Dross would've been awesome IMO.
And as well for TheFutureEmbrace, it would've been nice to see another single released, at least. But I guess that just kinda faded and dissapated into nowhere. TheCameraEye and DIA would've been nice single choices IMO. Nice vibe to both the tracks.

Love should have been a single, fuggin awesome song!! love the fuzz and the clapping thing!!
The tale of dusty and pistol pete- Definatly should have been the second single instead of bloody perfect that album killer :x
It would have also had an awesoem video imo!
I of the mourning- should ahve released it, would have sold in the kabillions!

i reckon, hummer, bodies or where boys fear to tread, porcelina of the vast oceans, tear, age of innocense or with every light,
i always imagined how these would do if they were singles

porcelina of the vast oceans
I wonder what the radio edit would be like...
Gnomestar- 03-16-2006
probably crap... at least it wouldnt have that useless minute of silence at the beginning tho!!
i still say Love would have made a great single!
Liam-M- 03-16-2006
i thought love would be a great single before, but then i changed my mind
i think that Snail should have been released, and mayonaise instead of rocket.
mcis singles were fine, but if they wanted to release another one, then muzzle.
adore could have done with another single, which i think should have been Pug
machina, 3 singles is enough, and i love them all, but maybe This Time should have been released as the last single.
and if machina II did have singles, then LMGTWTY and Dross. cash car star i like, but i find the lyrics to be one of the worst billys ever written while in tSP

iv never liked mayonaise as much as everyone else and we all kniw why muzzle wasnt released
adore could have done with another single, which i think should have been Pug
they should never have released pefect, it drove down sales and stopped a 3rd single

Not dross, its fun but stupid, maybe vanity instead...

Age of Innocence would have been such an awesome single.
I get a very 1979-ish vibe from it. I could see it having a similar video.
Locke- 10-19-2006
Agreed on Age of Innocence. Its interesting you say it sounds like 1979, I thought the same thing after hearing it.
Also Hummer was a good pick.
Muzzle, however, would one of my top five songs by the pumpkins, and I kinda like the anonymity it has. Kinda like Pug, its an awesome song that should stay veiled from the public, IMO. A single wouldn't make it as cool as it is. and you gotta love the dog from the booklet.
But if I could choose a song to release NOW as a single, I would choose I of the Mourning. That song is captivating and deserves to be well recognized. I swear, I could put that song on repeat for hours and not get sick of it. The live version off the SP radio (can't remember which one tho...) was powerful and it unleashed some of the energy the song has that isn't there on the album. A truly amazing song.

hey guys, this is my first post in this forum, anyway i think muzzle was a good choice for single even though it wasn't released, also hummer would be great but a bit long for radio (maybe they would have cut the outro off), dusty and the tale of..., age of innocense, and snail.
Marqués- 10-27-2006
the musique I of the mourning is pretty swell
the extended outro thing is kind of cool
makes it a little more special
Teej212- 10-30-2006
This time, its a classic!!!! Also, every song on Siamese dream,( Except Sweet Sweet, too short for a single), Snail, Mayonaise( Acoutic from still becoming apart), IOTM, and For Martha

This Time and Pug I definitely would have wanted to see as singles as well. Speaking of Tale of Dusty and Pistol Pete, I had done a written interpretation of what I thought the video should be like on Siva along time ago. I wrote before Storytellers, so I had originally thought envisioned Dusty (turned out to be a girl in his actual backstory) And Pistol Pete as rival gunslingers, one good and one bad, and I made up a character for D'arcy. It was kind of lame when I think about it lol:
