"With Every Light" Appreciation Thread
This song is amazing. I've always liked it. It was one of the songs off Machina that I didn't mind listening to. But now, I've just discovered how melodically and thematically beautiful it really is. <3

I haven't listened to that song in many months. I can't bring myself to listen to Machina fully anymore, so I never find a reason to listen to it, since it never stood out to me. I'm listening to it now. I like it, but to me, it was always the emotional \"dwarf\" on Machina -- it couldn't stand up to the big boys. But it's still a quality song. Just doesn't quite appeal to me on the level that most Pumpkins songs do, but I won't deny its beauty.

It's got such an interesting arangement. It's happy and sad at the same time.

I can't bring myself to listen to Machina fully anymore That's what it was like for me - I never really listened to the album fully until about a year ago. And then I really got hooked to songs in the latter part of the album, such as WEL and Age of Innocence. Now I'm loving them.

I agree, Machina ends with sort of a bang, not a large ROCK! bang, but artistically. With Every Light I have always felt was in my top five pumpkins songs (as hard as it is to choose...). This song really is awesome. I think it is like a gem of the pumpkins. Kinda reminds me of Ruby, I never really paid attention to that song (cmon, with XYU coming up?!) but once I stopped clicking next and listening to it, it was a musical high. I wish I could have been to Rio DeJaniero on the 27 of January, 96. I have a dvd copy of that show and Ruby was awesome on that bootleg. But I digress. Does anyone have a good copy of WEL live? I have the Storytellers version, which has been the best version I have heard thus far. Any suggestions?

Right, but for me, Machina was my favorite album for a while, and is still nearly my favorite on certain levels. I just can't listen to it without getting ridiculously depressed, and that's just no fun. There's a difference between gloom and despondency, and Machina causes the latter for me. It really comes down to having too many associations with all the songs, which has made them unlistenable for reasons quite apart from their quality...
