Ugh I hate my job. Well, one of the three that I have. I'm in one of those "I'm desperate for money to make my next car payment and still have enough to buy lunch" phases, so I'm going to be juggling 3 jobs starting next Monday when my exams are over. Monday to Friday, 8am-4pm I'll be working at a call center for internet tech support. Funnily enough, being 17 years old, I know more than half the idiots that work there. Prior to taking it full time, I've been doing one to two shifts a week during school. It's a pretty easy job, make decent money. Thursday and Friday from 5pm-11pm I'll be working at my Aunt's restaruant as a server. Pay is minimum wage, but I get free food and drinks (it's family, so I get free everything pretty much, lol) and tips. So it works out pretty good. Saturday and Sunday 1pm-6pm I'll be working concession at a movie theatre by my house. Pay is minimum, but free popcorn, nachos, drinks, hotdogs and movies makes up for it. So.. onto my rant. I hate the job at the movie theatre. Well, not really, I just hate the manager. All my co-workers are nice and my supervisors are awesome. The manager is a fuckwad. I was supposed to work today from 6pm-11pm. I come in 10 minutes early to change and such. When I come in I see the manager lurking around the concession. It's funny cause he's a complete control freak and will bite your head off if you slack for more than 5 seconds. So.. I think nothing of it and start work. About an hour later, he's still hanging around and begins to look irritated. The scheduling supervisor did some crazy shit I guess. It was ridiculous. There are two concession stands, one inside where you can buy during movies and one outside where you can buy before you go into the movies. There are a total of 10 tills. There were 12 people scheduled to work. Not to mention, it was dead. Literally dead. In the hour and a half that I worked, I had about 10 customers or so, versus the 30-40 I'd get in an hour on a busy night. So anyways, a few minutes later he called all of us together and was like "Who get's off at 11?", and 5 of us raised our hands. Then he's like "Ok, I'm going to let you off early cause it's not busy." Keep in mind, this is an hour and a half into my shift. So, we were all pissed. If I can't even get enough job security to get at least half my shift before getting dismissed, I'm not pleased. Ugh. So I'll probably quit so that I can get my weekends off. So, the 5 of us that got let off early were pissed as hell, so we took full advantage. Two hot dogs each, large popcorn, nachos and a large drink and we went to a movie. Good times.

just try to bring the place down from the inside, give people extra hotdogs, hand out free tickets on the street, or just play office pranks it sucks down here in aus, they brought in these new work place laws where you can be fired without a reason, ... *sigh* i need a job

yeah, i get what you mean, cause i was gonna say you should just complain till your face turns blue. my friend works in a cafe and they just got a new boss, and shes making it a dangerous place to work, so, hes gonna, ah well, atleast you got the good time

So... I quit my job. Yay. Cause of the Folklorama thing I mentioned in the other thread, I needed to take 2 weeks off of work. Typically, you need to get your shifts covered in order to get them off. The thing with the managers is that they are \"expected\" by the CEO to keep expenses as low as possible, so since the managers thought it wasn't busy, they just gave me the 2 weeks off and I didn't need to find anyone to cover. After 2 weeks of fun, I just didn't want to go back. The job was shitty, I have other jobs and I make enough money, so I figured I'd quit. How sweet it was to go in there, right after they gave me 2 weeks off, and said I quit. Since I work part time, I didn't need to give them any notice. My shift was supposed to start at 6, and a big movie rush starts at around 6:45. I walked in at 7 and the manager was like \"Where were you?\" and I'm like \"Yea, um.. I quit. See ya.\" Turned in my uniform and walked out. It felt good.

oh, the irony, you should have dyed your entire uniform red, and then just said you spilt some wine on it or somehting ala rent a car crash derby from jackass when they said they hit the dog. what about your other jobs?

Well I technically couldn't do that to the uniform cause they're serious asswads. When they hire you, you sign a contract saying that if you damage your uniform, they have the right to deduct the money from your paycheque. *shrugs* I don't care. I screwed them over enough. And I'm still working my other jobs. School starts in 2 weeks anyways, so I can't be bothered to work 3 jobs, one of which I hate. I'll be working part-time at the call center and weekends at my aunt's restaurant, which is good enough.
